Methodology & coverage
How the check signal is decided
The signal does not say a stock is good or bad. It counts how many of the items checked with the public rules below differ from usual.
- Daily move: an absolute change of at least 3% and at least 2× the average move of the last 20 sessions
- Trading value: at least 3× the average of the last 20 sessions
- Earnings: operating income over the last four quarters below zero (Q4 = annual minus the first three quarters)
- Filings: an event filing received within 14 days before the as-of date (periodic reports are not counted)
- Foreign & institutional: both net outflow over the last 5 sessions with a combined total of at least 10×100M KRW
- Data date: flagged when the data contract reports a delayed update; the whole signal becomes not verified when the as-of date is more than 7 days old
- Market: KOSPI or KOSDAQ moving ±1.5% or more in a day, gainers (or decliners) at 70% or more, market trading value at 1.5× the 20-session average or more
- Top and bottom sectors in the market report: chosen only from sectors with 5 or more stocks
Zero is green (usual range), one or two is yellow (something to check), three or more is orange (several things to check). Missing or old price data is grey (not verified). Items without data are not counted and are named instead.
Better/worse conditions use the nearest reference to the current price (20-day average price, 1-year high/low, operating profit or loss, foreign/institutional inflow or outflow) and always come as a pair. A condition is not a forecast that it will happen.
Periodic report deadlines follow the Capital Markets Act: 45 days after the period end for quarterly and half-year reports, 90 days for annual reports. A deadline that falls on a holiday may move to the next business day.
Charts
Stock charts are drawn with the TradingView Advanced Charts library (v32), and the prices are Sentinel contract data based on the official KRX close. The TradingView logo and link inside the chart are the attribution required by the licence terms; they are neither hidden nor altered. If the library cannot be loaded, a Sentinel SVG drawn from the same data and the value table appear instead. Viewing charts is free, independent of sign-in or payment.
As-of date
Every figure is labelled “as of the latest official close · as-of date”. The word “yesterday” is not used — with weekends and market holidays it is an inaccurate description. When markets have different as-of dates, each is shown separately and never merged into one.
Coverage — measured status
- Prices & market capitalisation: 2,762 stocks
- Sector: 2,742 stocks
- Financials: 2,331 stocks (including 107 preferred shares that inherit the figures — no valuation computed)
- PBR: 2,205 stocks · PER: 1,318 stocks
- Investor flows & disclosures: 369 stocks
The 369 stocks with deep data account for about 81% of total trading value and about 92% of market capitalisation.
The deep range for investor flows and disclosures is measured from the stocks for which flow observations actually exist in the data contract. The selection basis behind this set of stocks, and who made it, has not been confirmed — it is not a constituent list of a particular index (KOSPI200 or KOSDAQ200), nor is it a selection made by Sentinel. The only confirmed facts are the counts and shares above; if the source is confirmed, this page will be updated.
As of the latest official close · 2026-10-20Sector aggregation
Sector moves are computed cap-weighted, with the share of rising stocks inside the sector shown alongside. Stocks with no trade, moves outside the daily price limit (corporate actions such as stock splits and mergers) and stocks with no sector mapping are excluded from the aggregation. Preferred shares are excluded from the denominator of the advance ratio only. The display sector on screen labels is a display classification Sentinel defines on top of the Korean Standard Industrial Classification (KSIC), and the stock detail page notes when it differs from the original KSIC classification.
Valuation figures
PBR and PER are values derived from financial disclosures. They are not computed for preferred shares — dividing the market capitalisation of that line by the company's equity distorts the figure heavily. PER is also not computed for stocks in loss or without four quarters gathered. The price as-of date and the disclosure date behind the valuation are different dates, and each is shown on screen.
Showing failures and delays
If a source update fails, the data from the previous as-of date is kept and the delay is shown. It is never disguised as zero or as normal. Missing values are left blank and are not filled with 0 or N/A.
